Water

Our favorite water experiences since we have been on the road. Each one is unique and captured our heart for different reasons.
Picture
Gulf of Mexico, Florida Panhandle
Some of the clearest ocean you can encounter. The water temperature gets up to the mid 80's, and is lovely to swim in from June to the beginning of October. Also, the sand is fine and white, and does not get hot. We have enjoyed many "float days" along this coast.

Crystal River, FL
Being in the water with these gentle giant beasts is a surreal experience. The river is cold and the springs that feed it are 72 degrees year round. That is why the manatees hangout here in the winter. There are rangers there to monitor the people swimming with them, so that the manatees are protected.

Silver River, FL
Not a swimming river because there are alligators, however the water is so crystal clear you can easily spot wildlife, such as: manatees, turtles, and of course alligators. Also great for bird watching. There are even monkeys that were introduced many years ago. We got to see them when we were there.

Ojo Caliente Hot Springs, NM
There are many warm to hot pools to choose from at this upscale hot springs resort. Water temperatures vary and range from the 80's to in the low 100's. There are even different mineral contents in some of them. In addition to trying every pool, we rented a private one that had a fireplace next to it.

Ash Meadows, Death Valley National Park, NV
The water in these warm springs is in the mid 80's, and gorgeously clear.  You are not allowed to swim in these pools, because there are endangered pup fish that are unique to each one.  However, we are very excited to know that warm springs exist in the world.

Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
This lake was special to us because it was the first mirror lake we encountered on our journey. It was also the first time we had to make a reservation to go to a specific area of the park.

Jenny Lake and Cascade Creek, Grand Teton National Park, WY
Our first day, we took the ferry across the lake and hiked along one of the creeks that feed the lake. The waterfall was epic and so powerful. We came back to enjoy the clear water and kayaked around the whole lake.
