Freshwater Bay on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, WA - Sept 16

The water was so cold that it numbed our toes, but we got to see many colorful anemones.

Salt Creek Recreation Area, WA - Sept 16

It was fun to go out on low tide, walk on the rocks, and look for sea creatures.

Dungeness Spit on the Olympic Penninsula, WA - Sept 16

A sand spit juts out into the Straight of Juan de Fuca. It is the longest natural sand spit in the united states and grows 15' in length every year. The cloud like coloration in the below left photo is actually forest fire smoke.

Sol Duc Hot Springs, Olympic National Park, WA - Sept 17 - 19

We soaked in the hot springs a couple of times (even did the cold plunge, which was 66 degrees), met a wonderful couple who we hope to keep in touch with, and we hiked to Sol Duc Waterfalls.

Hurricane Ridge Meadow Trails, Olympic National Park, WA - Sept 20

There are pieces of an old ski lift and a Ski Patrol building on the mountain, which are reminders that this used to be a skiing destination.

Switchback Trail to Klahhane Ridge, Olympic National Park, WA - Sept 22

We found this trail to be intensely steep.  Colleen got her first ever hiking blister.
Even though the temperature significantly dropped on the ridge, we sat, enjoyed the views, and ate our lunch.

Heart O' The Forest Trail, Olympic National Park, WA - Sept 23

This trail goes through the dense forest, and has some of the largest trees we have seen.

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada - Sept 25 - 26

We rode the ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC for an overnight excursion. We ate and drank our way around Victoria.  It is truly a wonderful city. It is clean, with friendly people, and we can't wait to go back again.

Hurricane Hill Trail, Olympic National Park, WA - Sept 28

Foliage came quickly and colder weather is in the air. When we got closer to the ridge it started flurrying.
