- Cleetwood Cove Trail -
We learned that this is the only place that you can legally swim in the lake. It was too cold for our liking to take a dip but others were doing the polar plunge.

- The Watchman Peak Trail -
Fun hike through fields of snow, with the highest view that we got on this trip.

Melrose Vinyards (HH), Roseburg, OR - July 2 - 3

Our cheese and fruit board was impressive, the homemade spinach empanadas were delicious. A pretty spot that would make the perfect venue for a special occasion.

 Eugene, OR - July 3 - 7

Visited with family and they took us to surrounding areas including a super fun day at the coast! The Eugene Farmers Market is impressive and we look forward to going back to enjoy it when the weather is cooler.

This was a beach that we decided to stop at, as we were driving south along the coast.

Redwoods State and National Parks, CA - July 8 - 10

- Crescent City -
It was too foggy to get a good look at the lighthouse but it set an atmospheric environment. We were pleasantly surprised when we came across dozens of sea stars.

Westport Winery Garden Resort, Aberdeen,  WA - July 14  - 15

This was our second time staying at this Harvest Host. We had a yummy lunch and enjoyed the beautiful grounds. The Mermaid Museum that we visited last year is on the premises.

South Beach Campground, Forks,  WA (Olympic National Park) - July 15  - 17

We stayed for two nights at this beachfront first come first serve campground. We have seen just about every imaginable makeshift camper while being on the road; this was was the first time we saw one made out of the bed of a truck.

Kalaloch Campground,  Forks, WA (Olympic National Park) - July 17

- Tree of Life, aka Tree Root Cave -
This Sitka Spruce tree is suspended in air with all of the roots exposed. Definitely one of the earth's "natural wonders".

Olympic Bluffs Lavender Farm and Cidery, Port Angeles, WA - July 17 - 22

- Annual Lavender Festival -
This annual event creates a lively weekend in the area of Sequim. Several farms participate in the festivities. We helped direct people and traffic, and pour cider. Colleen even taught a yoga class in the lavender field.

Tenino Trail Days, Tenino, WA - July 27

Tenino is a small town near Rainier, another small town. Similar to pioneer days, the event was filed with activities of how they did things in days of yore. We participated in axe throwing and other fun activities.

Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park , WA - July 30 - 31

We took a little drive to Saddle Mountain, and then drove the dirt and gravel roads on the public lands to some designated "dig sites".  It was exciting to harvest petrified wood from the ground, that we added to our rock collection. The log piece of petrified wood pictured below is at the visitor center. We only found little pieces at the "dig sites".
